Last year, Walmart’s Black and Unlimited “Dear Dad” series helped shift the narrative, but Black fathers still don’t get the recognition they deserve. This year, how do we expand the narrative to generate even more excitement around Black fathers setting the example for all fathers

For Black men, the title and responsibility of being a Dad comes with immense pressure to succeed. So, they are evolving their parenting style to apply a more progressive approach to match today’s cultural climate, creating their own spin on parenting. Moments like teaching sons how to tie a tie or taking daughters to their first of many Daddy-Daughter dances brings a great source of pride.

the idea.

In our second year, we created an animated short film, “Answering The Call,” about "The League of Black & Unlimited Dads," a group of Black fathers with parenting superpowers inspired by real stories. This film celebrates the progressive parenting style of Black fathers and the positive impact they have on their children’s lives, highlighting the heroics of a team of Black dads.

League of Black and Unlimited Dads

In celebration of Father’s Day and Black fatherhood, Walmart teamed up with Carl Jones and his award-winning Black-owned animation studio, Martian Blueberry, to create a short film about the heroics of parenting superpowers. This film is a love letter to Black fatherhood, honoring the superheroes who answer the call in our lives.
